Congress President Sonia Gandhi has nominated Podaihat MLA Pradeep Yadav for the Deputy Leader of Congress Legislature Party in Jharkhand. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has issued a letter related to this. Pradeep Yadav has been a strong intervention for the last two decades in the parliamentary politics of Godda Lok Sabha including Podaihat assembly. During this, he has been a cabinet minister twice including one time MP and five times MLA. He had joined Congress two years back. . Pradeep Yadav, a resident of Bohra village of Podaihat, did his graduation in science and became MLA for the first time in 1999 elections from Podaihat on a BJP ticket. Later, a separate Jharkhand state was formed and he became the Minister of Human Resources for the first time in the Babulal cabinet. Then in the by-election held after the death of BJP MP Jagdambi Prasad Yadav in 2003, the BJP made him the party's official candidate in the Godda Lok Sabha elections and Pradeep Yadav also became an MP for the first time. At the same time, Prashant Mandal of JMM won the by-election held here in the year 2003. Prashant had defeated Ajit Mahatma, uncle of BJP candidate co-pradeep Yadav and became an MLA.

In the 2004 general elections, Pradeep Yadav had to face the Congress candidate, Furqan Ansari. Whereas in the next year 2005, in the Vidhan Sabha elections, he again became the MLA from Podaihat and became the Education Minister in the Arjun Munda government. Later, Pradeep Yadav contested the Lok Sabha elections twice and lost but continued to win the Vidhan Sabha elections from 2005 till now. Later, he along with Babulal Marandi broke away from the BJP and became the founding general secretary of JVM.

In the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, he had to face defeat for the third time in a row on a JVM ticket from BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. But in the Legislative Assembly held in the same year, he became MLA for the fifth consecutive time after defeating BJP candidate Gajadhar Singh by a margin of 13,527 votes. Podaihat seat is considered to be prominent in 81 assembly constituencies of Jharkhand. This area of ​​Godda district is a part of Godda Lok Sabha constituency. MLAs Pradeep Yadav and Bandhu Tirkey joined the Congress after winning the election from the JVM in 2019, while Babulal Marandi, who won the election from the JVM, joined the BJP.
